Digital transformation in transportation Transport

Mobility is a fundamental human right and transport should be an enabler which connects people and places, determining how we move around and access our built and natural environment. Digital transformation in transportation is integrated with every element of human experience. Transport is also fundamental to reaching net zero, increasing housing delivery, improving social mobility and citizen experience, and integrating planning and infrastructure delivery and investment.

We’ll help you identify opportunities to build whole system approaches to service design, shaping innovative products and services that meet diverse user needs while encouraging open and repeatable patterns for reuse.

Our work with the Connected Places Catapult on a cross-transport and net zero initiative developed a tool that collates key information for local authorities to plan their electric vehicle charging strategy, identifying the best spatial locations for rolling out bulk charging infrastructure for fleets.

We are passionate about delivering transformation in the transportation sector, particularly in enhancing internal systems and capabilities that empower organisations to achieve their transport delivery goals. It's why we're a long-term partner for digital transformation in transportation.

We partnered with Transport for Wales (TfW) which is responsible for ensuring an efficient and safe transport network across Wales, including bus and rail. Since 2019 we have been working with them on a wide range of transformation initiatives, including IT and digital strategy, IT security audit, disruption tracking strategy and implementation.

How we delivered IT transformation at Transport for Wales

Putting user needs at the forefront of policy decisions is key to developing and delivering a sustainable transport solutions. We recognise the importance of designing transport solutions centred around user needs. Providing easy and accessible services that connect people and businesses to opportunities is essential for transforming transportation.

The Future Transport Zone (FTZ) is an ambitious programme launched by the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) to trial new, innovative and green transport solutions centred around user needs and outcomes. We supported the programme in building its design, research and agile capabilities while helping develop a programme-level customer vision.

We can help you achieve your environmental and active travel goals through the development of business cases and investment strategies. Our expertise in identifying and delivering savings programs, as well as designing funding and grant services, is vital to the success of integrated transport planning.

Working across Lancashire County Councils Highways and Customer Service Directorates, we undertook a full review of their technology architecture and ran user-centred design sprints to develop and inform the business case for a new integrated Highways Asset Management system.

To overcome transportation challenges, data is our greatest asset. By applying AI technology, we can uncover new insights and opportunities within data and decarbonisation. Building fit-for-purpose data architecture is foundational to integrated transport planning and we specialise in taking data out of silos so it’s easy to find, access and use. Using the power of AI, data modelling and visualisations, we’ll help you make predictions and smarter business decisions, powering the digital transformation in transportation.

We created a future state data architecture programme for the DVLA over a two-and-a-half-year programme using a combination of Agile, Scrum and Kanban methods. This work delivered the user-centred design of services at pace as part of co-located, cross-functional delivery teams.

We can help you learn directly from citizens about what they need from public transit and sustainable transport solutions for their communities.

Road data is historically not easily accessible or discoverable, and there isn’t a unified platform built for organisations to know what data is available. Recognising this, the Department for Transport (DfT) wanted to bring data providers together to solve road users’ problems through a National Access Point (NAP). Working collaboratively with the Department for Transport, we created the first iteration of a NAP for road data that begins laying the foundations for a community around a specific challenge area in the road data space.
